TOOL FOR PRUNING IN HEIGHT Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a tool for pruning in height, which is composed of a cutting head that is mounted on the end of a pole. The invention falls within the scope of forest cutting tools and, in particular, hand pruning tools, for example, for pruning deciduous trees, such as poplars, cherry trees, ash trees, etc.
In the field of application of pruning tools in height, the use of blades or handsaws coupled to fixed and / or telescopic poles is commonly used. To enable pruning from the ground without resorting to stairs or elevators, it is well known in the agricultural sector the coupling at the upper end of scissor poles, saws, transceivers and blades with traction systems based on remote drive systems by cords . The use of chainsaw chain heads or blades driven from the ground by electric or two-stroke engines is also widespread.
Mechanisms such as those mentioned above are described for example in ES292653, ES2066428, ES2047568, US5084975, EP0895712, ES2364798T3, W02008010080A2, US-A-4194542.
In the field of application of agriculture, the "mariculture" has been known since ancient times: up to about two and a half meters long, which has a formon-shaped iron on the tip, with a side-shaped hook. The consistency and weight of these tools is high and according to the work of rubbing in seviculture.
In general, the major inconveniences for the pruning of forest species formation of the above solutions are:
- High weight, which prevents the execution of precise cuts in training pruning.
- High weight that implies fatigue in the operator.
- The complexity of construction, particularly for cord systems
and transmission pulleys, and for saw chains coupled to
engines
The easy entanglement of the tensioning cord between the pulleys generally formed of multiple channels with more than one multiplication turn.
Complex maintenance with numerous elements of coupling, autogiro and transmission, frequently of complicated disassembly and fixation. Description of the invention
The present invention relates to a tool for pruning in height, of the type consisting of a cutting head that is mounted on the end of a pole and is intended to provide a tool with a multi-purpose head pruning height, coupled to the end of the pole, of simple constitution, operation and handling, which allows to obtain greater reliability in the pruning operation, simplify said pruning operation and reduce the maintenance needs of the tool.
The tool of the invention is especially suitable for pruning forest species formation in which the diameter of the branches to be pruned is usually less than 4 cm.
The tool of the invention is composed of a flat cutting head, mounted at the end of the pole, and a guide arm. The head is constituted by a resistant plate, of a metallic nature, which presents a series of cutting, straight and curved fronts. The guide arm is parallel and close to the plate that forms the cutting head and is mounted on the pole with the ability to move along it.
According to a preferred embodiment, the plate that forms the cutting head has two opposite longitudinal cutting edges, one with a curved shape and saw structure, and the opposite with a straight cutting edge and path. In addition, it has an extreme transverse edge, with straight cutting edge and straight path
or slightly curved-concave. Between the straight longitudinal and extreme transverse cutting edges, the plate forms a curved spout-shaped projection, with a curved-concave cutting edge opposite the extreme transverse cutting edge, forming a cutting hook.
As for the guide arm, it has an inverted "L" path, and is mounted through one of the "L" sections on the pole, using guides that allow its longitudinal sliding. The other section of the "L" is directed perpendicular to the pole and is close and parallel to the plate.
With this constitution, the guide arm silVe as a means to hang the tool from the branch to be pruned, as a pre-cut step, thus allowing to precisely center the cut.
The pole can be telescopic or of a single section and can be of solid or tubular structure. The section of the guide arm that runs along the pole may be externally attached to said pole or run through it. In addition, this section is a carrier at its free end of a counterweight. Preferably the pole will be provided with a push button or locking control for the guide arm.
Brief description of the drawings
The attached drawings show an exemplary embodiment, not limiting and susceptible to all those modifications that do not alter the essential characteristics of the invention.
In the drawings:
- Figure 1 shows in side elevation a tool constituted according to the invention. -Figure 2 a view similar to figure 1 showing a possible variant of execution. -Figure 3 a view of the same tool, according to the direction O of the figure
2.
- Figure 4 a schematic representation of the use of the tool, through its different cutting edges.
Detailed description of one embodiment
Figure 1 shows a tool for pruning in height, constituted according to the invention, which is composed of a cutting head (1) and a guide arm (2) that are mounted on a pole (3).
The head (1) is constituted by a resistant plate (4), of a metallic nature, preferably steely, which in the example shown is of approximately inverted straight trapecial contour. This plate has two opposite longitudinal cutting edges (5 and 6), a longitudinal cutting edge (5) serrated and curved-concave, and a longitudinal continuous cutting edge (6). The plate also has an end cutting edge (7) of continuous edge and straight or slightly curved path. Between the longitudinal cutting edges (6) and extreme transverse (7) a beak (8) is formed in the form of an inverted hook, with a curved-concave transverse cutting edge (9).
The guide arm (2), made up of a rod, for example, takes the form of an inverted "L", with a first section (10) that runs along the pole, outside the pole, and a second section ( 11) which runs parallel and close to the plate (4), in the direction perpendicular to the pole (3). The first section (10) is related to the pole (3) by means of clamps (12) that act as guide means to allow the longitudinal sliding of the guide arm (2) with respect to the pole (3).
The guide arm (2) is a carrier, at the end of the first section (10), of a counterweight (13). The pole (3) has a stop or lock button (14) that allows the user to block the longitudinal movement of the guide arm (2).
The plate (4) can be mounted on the pole (3) by extensions
(fifteen) of the pole that embrace the plate and fix it by means of pins (16), in the form of rivets or screws.
In Figures 2 and 3 an execution variant is shown in which, with the same references as in Figure 1, they designate equivalent elements or components. In the embodiment of figures 2 and 3 the pole (3) is of tubular structure and through it runs, with the ability to slide, the first section
(10) of the guide arm (2). Otherwise, the embodiment shown in these figures 2 and 3 coincides with that shown in figure 1.
In figure 4 different pruning options of branches that the tool of the invention allows and in which the different arrows indicate the direction of the force to be applied to execute the cutting of the branch are shown.
- Cut A: The longitudinal cutting edge (6), figure 1, allows straight cutting by lateral impact.
5 ---Cut B: The transverse end edge of cut (7), figure 1, allows a frontal impact cut. The guide arm (2) allows to support the pole before exerting the thrust. Thus applying the cut with precision. Cut C: Cut by parting with the concave saw of the longitudinal cutting edge (6), figure 1. Cut D: Traction cutting with the curved-concave cutting edge (9), figure 1.
